Grand handover ceremony

On the morning of 19 July 2024, a special event took place on the Baumann Automation company site: After 40 years of managing the company, Dr Georg Baumann handed it over to his son Oskar Baumann. He expands the management team, which already includes Karl Ebnet, Stefan Rauch and Alexander Dillinger. With his ideas and tireless commitment, Dr Georg Baumann has made Baumann Automation what it is today - a leading company in the automation industry.

The whole Baumann family and almost all employees were present at the handover ceremony. Among the invited guests were prominent personalities such as Albert Füracker, Bavarian Minister of Finance and Home Affairs, Michael Cerny, Mayor of Amberg, and Markus Wachtveitl, Director Purchasing Production Equipment at Continental. In their speeches, they recognised the remarkable nature and success of the company.

In his speech, Albert Füracker emphasised: ‘Dr Georg Baumann's life's work is impressive. Family businesses think in generations, not quarters. Oskar Baumann is now following in big footsteps, which he will certainly always fulfil well. Annette Baumann is making a significant contribution to the company's great success, and not just as the good soul of the company.’

Michael Cerny, Mayor of Amberg, wished Oskar a successful hand: ‘Baumann Automation is a cluster in Bavaria - a story of courage, further development and change. Dr Baumann's innovations have also shaped the city of Amberg. As a token of our appreciation, we are presenting sailing gloves, symbolising the crew that always sticks together as a family.’

Markus Wachtveitl, Director Purchasing Production Equipment at Continental, emphasised the long-standing collaboration: ‘I've been on board for 27 years and have been responsible for machine purchasing at Continental since 2007. Only a few were good enough back then, but Baumann Automation quickly became one of our most important machine manufacturers. In the last 15 years, Baumann has been honoured three times as ‘Supplier of the Year’ by Continental. In view of the current challenges such as uncertainties, buying restraint and the geopolitical situation, it is crucial to be present in all markets and to better map service locally.’

The entire Baumann family - Dr Georg Baumann, Annette, Oskar, Hanna, Marlena and Carlotta - took part in a round of interviews on stage at the end. The family bond was palpable, and Dr Georg Baumann proudly expressed that he could not imagine a better successor than his son.

As a symbol of the handover, Oskar received a 3D model of the company milled from aluminium. This special scene was celebrated with standing ovations and enthusiastic applause.

Oskar Baumann emphasised that he wanted to work in the interests of the company and maintain the existing values. He is looking forward to working with all employees and to continuing his father's successful work as well as setting new trends himself. The next chapter in the history of Baumann Automation begins.
